What is really a Scientist and how one becomes a such highly prized person? Is it the following route a valid one to become a worthy scientist?

Premise: As far as I I know the term " Scientist" in not protected by law all over the world ( it is like " Engineer" in UK) so it my be used by anyone independently by his/her education level and orientation. https://www.the-ies.org/joining
Art and Engineering are two different worlds: you cannot design and build a skycraper with the same spirit and inspiration you make a painting!... Engineering is an applied science (physics and mathematics are its indispensable tools) so scientists and engineers should have the same academic standard ( the former more theoretical, the latter also with a practical approach) otherwise the two would speak different languages....
The substantial difference between the Scientist and the Engineer is that the former study and discover the laws of the universe, the latter put them in practice designing and building things having a practical utility, things such, buildings, bridges, cars, computers, to name but a few.). In other words Engineering is the way that scientific progress gets translated in jobs, wealth and quality of life.
