TT Zero Races -Isle of Man-

As you maybe already know it was established a 2 year moratorium for TT Zero:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/50128666

I think that it could be a great opportunity to involved the IET to have a say  about the future  of the  TT Zero Races.

As Isle of Man resident and being an IET member I would like to keep in contact with people in the industry, teams and manufactures interested on the TT Zero Races.

Thanks and best regards,

Marlon
  • Thanks for highlighting this, Marlon. I've passed it on to relevant ARTS TN committee members involved in motorsport.

  • Marlon - thanks for posting in this forum, that is disappointing news about the TT Zero races.

As Community Manager for the ARTS TN I can confirm that we are involved in electric motor sports as follows:

Electrification in Motor sports Seminar - we have run this in 2017 and 2018 and are currently planning a third event in early March 2020 at the Coventry Museum of Transport.  In addition to the usual seminar, we plan to have a small exhibition of electric motor racing vehicles including cars and motorcycles and will also for the first time be offering a poster showcase to students to display their work in this area.

The TN also supports an Electric Motorcycle racing series each year i.e. MotoE racing, this is not the series organised by the FIA but one which has been running for several years.  One of the TN members is a member of the technical team and other IET members are also on this team which scrutinises the bikes ahead of each race.

Here are some links to content we have captured around this topic

I'm aware from Stephen's response below that he's highlighted your post to two of our TN volunteers who are involved in the above IET activities.  I seem to recall that at least 2-3 of the teams that race in MotoE also participate in the TT Zero races, but we don't have any other links to the series than what I've mentioned.  If you'd like to discuss further with the TN, then I'm aware you have my email address from previous contact so please feel free to send me a message and I can bring this to the attention of the TN Executive team.
