No they're not. Whether they are communicating it effectively is another question.

I'm in the middle of reading "Don't Even Think About It: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Ignore Climate Change" by George Marshall, excellent book (although slightly dated as it predates Donald Trump and Greta Thunberg) which I'd strongly recommend.
