So there may be a huge Engineering project underway.

Is it feasible?  There are supporters and there are critics.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is deadly serious about building a bridge connecting Scotland with Northern Ireland and is preparing to give the project the green light.

Challenges:

The sea there is up to three times as deep as the English Channel (which separates Britain and France) and

part of it includes a 1 million tonne underwater weapons dump.

  • I am sure that it could be built, but will it be of any use? As planned it seems to go from nowhere to nowhere so it would also need significant transport infrastructure either side. A rail bridge or a combined road and rail bridge ( like the Öresund Bridge https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%98resund_Bridge   ) might have been a better option but the gauge in Ireland is different to that in Great Britain Frowning2

    Best regards
