IET Media - Places to be seen...

We have been busy in the early months of the year and I wanted to make sure that you are all aware of a few things.

Firstly that we are made of our members, whether purely of the community here or whether you are also an IET member. As such we do things for you and by you, after all the exec are all drawn from members of the community and IET. In that then we ask that if you have comments about what we do or have suggestions for events to create or even if you are looking for someone to come along to something that you have organised to give an industry view, then do please get in touch. We are endeavoring to increase the amount of events, online or offline, for you to attend that help you in your career or interest area. In that then please see the latest blog that we have put together showing and talking about some of the things that we are doing and have done.

One thing though I want to talk about as there have been some comments and that is about our use of LinkedIn and YouTube. We have created a LinkedIn group to mirror this community and to provide a public way (through the membership being visible on LinkedIn) that you can show your membership of this community. All you have to do is to go along and join the IET Media Technical Network group which you can find at http://bit.ly/ietmedia. We do publish our content there as well as here in the community and you might find it easier to be notified in LinkedIn as a user about content being available to you. You can also follow us on LinkedIn as we have a 'company' page there as well under https://www.linkedin.com/company/64845878 - so anything we share will also appear in your 'stream' on LinkedIn. This is not to say that we are no longer here in the community, this is the first place we publish and you will find everything here as well but we recognise that we need to be where media engineers are and not everyone is in this community page but most are on LinkedIn.

In addition to LinkedIn, we have been publishing our most recent videos (webinars and lectures) on YouTube through our own YouTube channel. I can suggest that you have a look there and subscribe as we aim to put more and more interesting things there - in fact there are already two full webinars and the videos from IBC last year.

I want to leave you with one last point - and that is going back to my saying that we are made up of our members. We are drawn from members of this community, and we are always looking to bring new people onto the commitee if you are able to have the time to contribute. So if you feel that being on the Exec and giving up your time each month for meetings and for producing a 'big thing' for the membership is something that you want to do then please do get in touch and we can see if we can get you on board. The term for the exec is three years and there is always someone coming up for 'retirement' for us to bring in new blood....
