Balancing Safety and Cyber Security

There is a growing realisation that, in a world where cyber threats are a reality, a system that is not secure cannot be relied on to be safe.  But system safety and cyber security are often managed separately in organisations, by people with different skill sets, and they often generate conflicting requirements.  In the future, we need these disciplines to work together more to produce effective, dependable systems.

Supported by the UK National Cyber Security Centre, the Health and Safety Executive and the Office for Nuclear Regulation, the IET is publishing a Code of Practice for Cyber Security and Safety, to help raise awareness of the issues, spread good practice and draw the disciplines closer together.  It's aimed at practitioners and managers who can influence the way their organisations address safety and cyber threats, to help them make changes and find solutions that work in their business.

The Code of Practice is currently available for consultation.  Do you think it is useful?  Have your say!  The Draft for Public Comment is available on the IET's Consultations page until 31 March 2020.
