  • .1. What electrical device houses a rotating squirrel?

Agree with Chris - a not quite synchronous motor, could be shaded pole or polyphase. The current in the bars of the cage are at a frequency that is the difference of the freq of the AC applied, and AC pole rate, i,e.  the revs times no of poles. - this difference frequency is the so called 'slip', and is typically 2-10 Hz on a 50Hz machine depends on load.

    2. A heating element draws 10 Amps. on a 230 Volt supply. What power is it rated at?

I'll leave this for Zs and her triangles.

    3. Where would this formula apply?

    R1=R3 divided by R4 X R2?

Unless R1 R2 and R4 have specific meaning, in the feedback to unity gain analog multiplier in an analog computer.

I suspect you have another answer.

    4. Three resistors R1, R2 and R3 are wired in series to a 24 Volt supply. R1 carries 5 Amps. What current flows through R2 and R3?

     same, series.

    5. In a 50 Hz circuit containing a coil of many turns.

    or ii, The fuse blows,

or iii, The current lags the supply Voltage.

are both possible. Depends on the choice of fuse,,,,

    6. What is a Galvanometer used for?

    milliamps

    7. A full wave bridge rectifyer   RECTIFIER converts.

    ii. A.C. to D.C. current.

    8. A single phase  full wave bridge rectifyer contains.

    iii. 4 diodes.

or possibly nowadays in a VSD 4 power transistors.

Bonus Q from me how many diodes to rectify 3 phase and have 600Hz ripple (not 300Hz.)

    9. What does a smoothing capacitor do?

The idea is analagous to the water tank in the loft.

    10. What unit is a  Henry? To what does it apply?

    Volts per (amp per second)

(or if you prefer the fields and waves view  B/H per meter)

    L

Or the no of wifes you have divided by 6. Those unlucky in that dept may only have milli-henries.
