Call For Upper-Limb Amputees To Take Part in Paid Study

We are recruiting Upper-Limb amputees in UK wide to take part in a paid study on improving control and affordability of electric prosthesis. The activities will last for approximately 45mins and will involve the participants to make hand gestures whilst wearing a wearable Electromyography sensor.


Location for the study is flexible but would primarily take place in the Bristol area, all incurred travel travel expenses will be covered.

    Dr. Nsugbe, excellent initiative. I'm been slightly involved in amputees and self-controlled wearable electric prosthetics in the last few years, via an interest in smart robots/prosthetics by my nephew and arranging some work for him via a robotics company involved in one of my projects. Could you provide some more info, or on-line details and contact details, for this project so I can send to people and organisations I worked with in the past and who might be interested to support you. My interest in how robots could help society started in 1982/83 through my dissertation on robots for my BSc(Hons) degree. My focus then was robotics in the car production environment, but more so in recent years on smart prosthetics for amputees caused in conflicts. Kind regards, Maurice.

    Maurice-thanks for the message. We have a Journal paper accepted and in press in an IET Journal and i've also attached a poster which shows an abstraction of the scope of the research.

    I've taken the liberty of sending your contact details to a chum of mine who used to run around wearing green stuff and shouting a lot - hopefully he'll get something up on a few sites he frequents where there will be a number of characters who underwent traumatic amputations about
