How to Deal With Changing Trends?

It is very difficult for me to deal with the changing trends in the software development world. As soon as I finish learning a skill, I feel that it is losing its charm and people are moving to new technology. How do you people deal with it? Do you always keep learning new skills or keep yourself fixed to the same one?
Become cynical and jaded whenever a new technology appears. If you ignore it long enough, it will have become old technology and all the youngsters will have lost interest in it.
There are still plenty of jobs working with stuff that's old, or just the latest version of an old language/tool. Find one of those, and you can go for years with only incremental updates to your knowledge.
