Did you know that Sir. Humphrey Davy had an accident in his lab. which caused an explosion that damaged his eyes? He was experimenting with some glass apparatus that exploded.  After, he remembered Michael Faraday and asked for his help as an assistant. This eventually led to Faraday being invited to the Royal Institution to work as a lab. assistant. This was a golden opportunity that enabled Faraday to research early electricity and its effects.


Everybody should have a copy of the  Ladybird book: Lives of the Great Scientists, Michael Faraday, with its wonderful illustrations. Now out of print.


We remember Faraday when we refer to Farads or Micro Farads.
