SMET2

Apparently, a software patch can now be downloaded that will convert your SMET1 into a SMET2 meter. This, of course, is to appease the poor chaps who have previously had a failed SMET1 meter.

Has anybody here experienced their SMET1 performing as a SMET2.?

  • Actually I think the smets one units get reprogrammed to send their data to a central clearing computer at DCC that then re-packages the SMETS1  data in a SMETS 2 like format, and spoofs the missing bits, so that that to the suppliers it behaves like a new style one. This was  promised some time ago (here), but has clearly been a while coming, and no, I've not seen it in the wild yet either.
