EV Chargers located at commercial premises - or lack of?

Oh dear!

The Shell 170 kW charger is a big beast, a couple of those would likely hit the local network? Although perhaps not that day...

  • There seems to be something overly-complicated (or just brittle) about the protocols used on the Type 2 chargers, as fitted to most EVs in Europe.  It's supposed to allow the EV and the charge point to agree on what's the best charge rate, given the capabilities of the vehicle and the charge point.  But it seems that whenever the manufacturers produce new vehicles, it breaks compatibility with older chargers.

I suspect a big bus, with a huge maximum charge rate, just confused the chargers, which didn't know how to handle it.
