Wave powered ships

We could reduce the fuel usage and emissions from ships if we used the energy from waves. This could be done by adding an extra layer to the sides of ships which included one way openings. Waves would force water through the openings to create a store of pressurised water. This pressurised water can then be used to generate electricity or to push the ship forward.

Utilising the energy of waves should make the ship more rather than less stable. At the moment the energy of waves  lifts the ship up or down, moves it from side to side or pushes it away. By converting this energy into pressurised water it can be used to drive a turbine or released behind to push the ship forward.
