Medical Device Product Training

Good day all,

Are there any engineers in our community who are involved in the creation of Training Programmes for deployment of Medical Devices?
Or equally anyone involved with the effective running of medical device clinical trials?

This is an area of product development that I am looking to enhance and I would love to strike up some discussions around this.
The sort of questions I'm wrestling with at the moment are:

  • How to write an effective training programme and produce effective training manuals that ensure clinicians are competent in use of the medical device.
  • How to sign-off a clinician as "competent", before they are released to use the device on clinical trial patients.
  • How to support a clinician within an in-theatre environment? Is this training or product 'rep'?
  • How to establish a product design control strategy that drives the content of training programmes and training manuals as an embedded function.
  • How the output of risk assessment and usability engineering are fed into this process.
  • Does a clinical trial training strategy differ from that for a CE marked product?
  • And many other related questions ...

If this interests you or you have experience in this field I would love to connect.

Thanks for reading!

    Hi Jon  -

I have some involvement in these areas and happy to chat.  Phone probably easier than message board or email?

Thanks for responding Gerard. It would be really helpful to talk through this … I'll try and work out how to message my number privately. Many thanks,
