  • My experience is that priatisation of utilities has led to the assets slowly being allowed to degrade and the quality of jobs and training in those industries (electricity, water, gas, communications) diminishing. I don't pretend these sectors were wonderful when nationalised but the whole concept of 'switching' to get 'better' value has always left me bemused. Utilities are a basic requirement for life and should be nationally (internationally) owned and managed.
