Re : Standard for general rules for low voltage switchgear assemblies and requirements for LV Panel with PLC / DCS

Hi there,

I am normally read about IEC 61439 and IEC 60947 in LV panel/cabinet/switchgear design and assembly. My confusion is do we apply another standard as well for the cabinet that assembled with PLC/DCS in the cabinet? This automation panel is used for building control systems for heating and cooling systems. Need some knowledge and experience from experts. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

    Hello Eddy,

Generally speaking, air handling units would fall under the MD/US SMSR, so the harmonised/designated standard would be EN 60204-1.

The 61439 series are not harmonised to the MD, only the LVD/UK EESR.

So for building controls I would expect 60204-1, MD / UL SMSR, & EMC / EMF compliance on the Declaration not LVD.
