Re : Standard for general rules for low voltage switchgear assemblies and requirements for LV Panel with PLC / DCS

Hi there,

I am normally read about IEC 61439 and IEC 60947 in LV panel/cabinet/switchgear design and assembly. My confusion is do we apply another standard as well for the cabinet that assembled with PLC/DCS in the cabinet? This automation panel is used for building control systems for heating and cooling systems. Need some knowledge and experience from experts. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

  • Morning Paul,

Thanks for sharing. Previously I use to Low Voltage Directive (IEC 61439 & 60947). Thus never come across of the IEC 60204-1 for Machinery Directive. I am also agree your information that building control is harmonized with machinery directive, Supply of Machinery Safety Regulations & EMC/EMF compliance instead of LVD. Any advise that how can I able to refer for this electrical design directive standard?

    Cheers
