All about rental properties

Had a chat with a chap yesterday over a coffee regarding rented properties. He said that his hair dresser had told him that from June all overhead distribution supply lines to  rental properties would have to be buried in the ground. His hairdresser was unclear whether it was long term rentals or airb&b.

I've had a look at the update to the ESQCR 2020 regs but that's to do with reporting of incidents

Does anybody know if this has any factual basis or just hot air?

    I respectfully suggest that your friends hair dresser should stick to cutting hair. The OH lines do not belong to the property, rented or not, and the DNO do not really care how the folk who live in a building pay for that privilege. 

    There is a trend for new supplies and upgrades to be underground,  even when replacing overhead, but that is nothing to do with rents, except that when a property is divided into flats, often the supply is upgraded at the same time. That is a matter of DNO policy, and given we are still finding occasional fused neutral cut-outs from pre ww2, do not hold your breath for changes to the mains distribution being especially rapid.
