Support Required for a Graduate Trainee

Hello!

One of the reasons for setting up this page was to ensure a means of support to those that require it.  With that in mind, I wondered if any of you would be able to help with the following...

We have received a request from an IET Fellow asking if anybody would be willing to mentor one of his female graduates.

''She is the only young woman working as a Graduate Trainee in the high voltage electricity distribution sector.  I would point out my mentee is not facing any form of discrimination and is very happy in general.  However, as a woman in an all-male environment (particularly in the on-site environment – where male/female, or indeed any, facilitates are in short supply - rather than the office-based situation) she wondered if the IET might have on its list of members, such as C.Eng in the same industry, any other women who have faced such practical problems who would be willing to be “on the other end of an e-mail” for her - perhaps offering a little help and advice on the odd occasion.''

Let me know what you think and if you would like to show your support by helping another woman.

Thank you,

Jo Foster
