Bronze Sponsor of Robogals

The IET Australia Forum is proud to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Robogals for the next three years (from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015) as a Bronze Sponsor!

This new relationship between the two organisations will help pursue the IET's objectives of reaching out to the next generation of engineers and technologists by supplementing existing initiatives such as the Faraday website in enthusing young people between the ages of 5 and 19 about science, technology and engineering.

Robogals targets girls in grades 5-7 with fun, educational robotics workshops that aim to introduce ‘engineering’ into the girls’ vocabulary, and show that it can be fun and exciting.

For more information, visit the Robogals website at www.robogals.org .

    Hi Michael,

That sounds great. Up here in Brisbane, we are planning on making first real contact during their annual national conference in late October.

Who would be the target of the trivia night - just Robogals members and the IET local uni chapter, or planning on trying to ask other (industry) attendees to come as well?
  • I have been in contact with the Victoria Robogals representative, but we haven't had a proper strategy discussion yet, as our schedules haven't aligned.

I have some ideas about how we can get involved, but it's likely discussions won't take place until at least November 2012, and any event proposals would likely be postponed until the 2013 school year.
  • Nice work Jun!

(P.S.  The Dropbox link you provided is telling me that its contents have been deleted or removed.)

    Team,

I've just an email from Robogals, apparently the folder got deleted, but here is a new link:

  • It's the same link as before, but I can confirm it works now.

Nice pictures - these workshops really do look like a great thing for the schools they visit!

Wow, that is very impressive. keep up the good work. SA & NT have invited the a robogals represantative to our upcoming PNE event as Simon mentioned before. we want them to meet the committe and get to know there future events for this year and 2013 where IET SA & NT can participate.

  • Hmm, I should probably add to this... we've just been contacted by Lucy Shaw (Robogals Global - National Partnerships Manager) about an Industry Gala event that will be held in Melbourne at the end of November.

This will be a nice way for our committee to introduce ourselves to the Melbourne Robogals team and hopefully work on some joint events for 2013.
  • Nice link Michael - Marita's speech was unusual, but the message was clear.

Marita has stepped down as CEO of Robogals Global at the start of 2013 - I'm not sure what her current level of involvement is with Robogals, but in Melbourne (where Marita, and Robogals originated) there is now a new committee in place.

IET Victoria is currently in its early stages in terms of a potential partnership with Robogals in Melbourne.

We are creating a plan on how the two organisations can best work together for mutual benefit, and intend on introducing ourselves to the committee in the second half of 2013.
