I mean both generally and IET specific women's pages.
The IET have created a Facebook page and the My Community platform.
The IET uses Facebook is a way of highlighting specific news, role models and beneficial activity such as, the events that we hold, for women.
The My Community platform is more of a networking capability that provides members and non-members with the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals, share knowledge and create debates.
I come across a number of different perspectives regarding the IET Women's Network and I think that it would be good to have those shared with our participants.
I agree with the points that you have made and I would like to point out that we do not exclude anybody from the Women's Network activity. In fact, I think that it is good for men to be involved as they may be able to gain an alternative perspective on what it is like for a woman to work in, what is traditionally regarded as a male dominated field. They can also offer different perspectives on various topics, as well as offering support. There are a few men that have joined this platform already, which is fantastic!
I think that there are some cases where some girls / women will benefit from a female mentor or role model. However, I understand that this is not always the case. It is nice to have the option though
