There are plenty of like-minded individuals within the IET Women's Network that may be able to help you with a query so, feel free to add to this thread.
As a full time Engineer I found I had limited time to develop long term connections with local schools that had a real measureable impact, so I was looking for ways to expand and develop the relationships. I discovered that my local Soroptimist group, many of whom are ex teachers and headteachers, were very keen ways to promote STEM amongst girls, but did not know many female Engineers. Together we now have the school connections and I can provide a female Engineer story to tell. They recently bought a number of these books 'Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World' and presented them to local schools and I supported by attending and speaking at some of the school presentations. http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/gwentnews/15502051.Group_donates_books_to_inspire_girls_to_enter_careers_in_science_and_maths/
Soroptimist groups are all over the world, so others may find them a useful group to team up with to achieve a further reach. They are currently looking at repeating the book donation to the schools in a neighbouring area to Torfaen if they can get sufficient funding.
