I have received the following request from an MA student of Multimedia Journalism from University of Westminster.
Please e-mail me at womensnetwork@theiet.org if this is something that you would be able to help with:
I am working on a university assignment making a radio documentary on how females in UK refrain from becoming engineers. As a future female professional such issue is of my deep concern.
I am looking for experts who could give me their general opinion on the issue for 30 seconds. I will be more than grateful if you could help me. A telephone interview would be required to possibly take place on Friday 13th February.
The questions that could be asked are:
- What number of females come to the organisation for help in their engineering careers?
- Is it difficult for a female to become/survive as an engineer?
- What stops the female of UK from becoming engineers?
- Why is there a shortage of female engineers in companies?
- Is there a need of female engineers?
- What can be done to motivate females to become engineers?
- What do male engineers feel about the issue?
