The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has released new research to mark the launch of its Engineer a Better World campaign. The campaign targets parents and young people, especially girls, and aims to encourage them to think about engineering as an exciting and relevant career choice.
We would like to invite IET members to participate in a new initiative to promote engineering as a career to young people. A recent study by communications consultants Luther Pendragon has resulted in a number of recommendations, one of which was to produce a series of role model videos which appeal to the young.
***The IET has agreed to fund two of these films and we're now looking for two dynamic IET-linked young engineers to star in them***
You can see some of the films that have already been produced at: http://www.engineeringinsite.com/videos/
As you can see from the films already produced, we have very open minds about the particular field of engineering that we feature. Most important is to find young engineers who are really passionate about what they do and can commit a small amount of time (probably c.2 days) to working with the film production company to make an exciting and visually striking short film.
If you would like to be considered please get back to us by 31st May 2015 with a rough outline of the engineering activity that you're involved in and what you might be able to give the film crew access to. You will have free access to the finished video to use as you like. It will certainly feature on our website, on the engineeringinsite website being developed by the ERA Foundation and will be circulated widely to schools and other career influencers.
Please e-mail diamond@theiet.org if you would like to get involved.
Best of luck!
