UK Community Volunteer Conference

I couldn't find an appropriate category for this post, so this one will have to do. How many of our local networks are sending representatives to the UK Community Volunteer Conference (CVC) in July in Manchester? What are you expecting to get from this conference? Do you feel it will address your concerns?

  • But there are volunteers that sit on central
committees and they were invited in the early days?

  • I'm glad to hear that the local networks are well represented, it is the first time in the memory of our current members that we've sent someone.

  • Kenneth Mollison:

I don't recall seeing an invite either. I've made the LN aware of my volunteer status however the communication seems to be one way. I tend to operate on my own arranging school visits and volunteer opportunities via the local STEMNET contract holder Science Connects.

Ken, Thanks for this.  I have sent you a message as to what I can do to help.  Please get in touch via MyCommunity or email me lcallaghan@theiet.org or phone 0141 566 1805 and I can put you in touch with the correct volunteers.  Lynsay

  • It seems we have 34 of the 43 UK local networks represented, which is encouraging, let's hope our views and needs will be taken on board, rather than just being told "that's the way it is". I've heard too much of that of late from our revered institution. It would be nice if there were a Community on here specifically for CVC delegates.
  • I'd requested that we get some proper training on all the online tools we use whilst we are at the CVC, but it seems that isn't the appropriate occasion for training, I'm not sure what is. I believe we will get an update on what is happening with these tools. And a "delegate challenge", because we don't face enough challenges in our day jobs.
