Professional Development at Events?

Those of you closely following the community news will have seen that we supported our community colleagues at the All Energy event last week.

Do you like to be able to talk informally talk to PD staff at such events, or do you attend predominantly for the technical seminars and lectures and to network with technical professionals?  Which events do you attend?

  • WIthin the professional development team we work closely with local networks to deliver lifeskills courses many of which attract members from a wide range of backgrounds.

We are actively encouraging members to not only undertake CPD but also to record this and for those that are interested we have recently launched an opt-in monitoring scheme.

The reason for posing this question was that we are particularly interested to know about technical conferences or seminars that members may attend for their CPD and what their reasons are for attending.  I think that Alex raises an interesting point with regard to relevant technical events within the local networks as it may be that people get this information from conferences and seminars and look to the local networks more for social or networking events.
