Fracking - is this the way forward?

I saw on the news this morning that there has been a lot of talk about fracking - is this the way forward for the energy sector?

Janine,
Fracking provides a temporary supply of natural gas which will eventually run out. Consequential effects are pollution of ground water and earth tremors. Gas can seep through water taps into the house and cause an explosion
