CEng Registration - evidence statement

Hello ladies,

I'm looking for a bit of advise as I have not been able to get a response from my CEng advisor...

I have sent off my application for CEng status and they have responded asking that I complete section B of the evidense statement (application of Practice).

I'm struggling to think of suitable examples for section B.1 "Identify Potential Projects and opportunities" and I was hoping if anyone here has done this before they can give me some tips on what type of thing they are looking for in a response.

Thanks for your help,

Cat.

  • Hi Cat.

PM me for a chat if you want to talk more specifically -  vquinn@iee.org.

Here are a list of questions I use as guidelines for people.  Obviously you need to come up with your own projects as I do not know your work experience.  I've added the questions for all of section B in case anyone else had similar questions.

    Section B1

    Questions to ask yourself:

    ·        Were there any ideas I had which I realised “here’s an opportunity” and then got someone (company/customer) to implmenet my idea/project ?

    ·        Did I identify any new markets or applications (similar to last item in some respects but this is probably more “current knowledge” where the last one might be more “innovation”)?

    ·        Did I advise any customer to implement/not implement a particular solution – why?  And did I offer an alternative (e.g. customers requirement would have caused a risk to health and safety my solution avoided the risk)

    Section B2

    ·        Did I derive and execute test plans?

    ·        How did I know the testing was effective, did I review empirical data and make decisions on this?

    ·        After testing and analysis was complete did I generate the procedures, specs for this application / technique?

    ·        Where was this implemented (customers, industry wide, etc)?

    Section B3

    Questions to ask yourself:

    ·        Was the project successful?

    ·        How do I know it was successful?

    ·        Did I define the acceptance criteria for the project?

    ·        Where there any “best practices" in this project I then used elsewhere?

    ·        Where there any problems encountered which I then used to prevent the same issue in future projects?
