HK Maker Faire 2013

Following on from my previous post with the SCMP article on innovation in Hong Kong, some of you may wish to see some innovation in action. There is an event called the Maker Faire coming up on Saturday 17 August 2013 (10am - 6pm) at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

For those of you who do not know, Maker Faires have been quite popular recently and are organised in various cities around the world. Many of the exhibitors are not practising engineers but are people who are just interested in making things for fun. That's right "for fun" - may be it will remind some of us why we chose engineering as a career.

People from a broad cross-section of backgrounds are 'makers'. From artists to hardcore engineers to lawyers.

The HK Maker Faire is described as a Mini Maker Faire as it is still quite a small event in comparison to some of the events held at other cities. If you have the time it is worth a visit. Here is the link to their website with more information...

I am not affiliated to the Maker Faire organisers but just felt that IET members in HK may find it of interest. Maybe some members of the IET in HK or their employers may wish to show off some of their work in future HK Maker Faires.
