I think that if some women are in a working environment that is negative towards them and makes them feel alienated then its time for a new job rather than a new career. I have certainly worked for a company where I didn't fit in and getting out of there and into a new role worked wonders on my mental well being.
Was the not fitting in because I was a woman and the majority of the other workers were men? Well I have a multitude of male friends, have been a best man twice, and seem to have had no problems in the other workplaces I've been at so probably not!
However the decrease in women in tech in terms of new entrants into the field is worrying. A lot of people have been spending time through STEM activities to promote STEM to girls in school and it would be good to see a positive result from this but these things do take time. I don't know if any other factors could be effecting this too like university fees and such?
