I received the following message from a member that would like to remain anonymous at this stage. If you are able to offer any advise, please do so on this thread or e-mail me at womensnetwork@theiet.org and I will forward your comments over to her.
I am a Malaysian, currently based in the UK. My spouse is currently pursuing his PhD at Imperial College London.
I am very interested to start a career in the UK. I bring along with almost 14 years of experience in the manufacturing sector (food industry). My last position was a plant manager for a department of close to 300 employees (operators, technicians, engineers and shift managers).
I am now stay at mum for almost 2 years, and I've been trying to get back into the career path but find it tough to obtain opportunities that fit my experience especially around London.
I know I have lots to offer but unfortunately will need some help to get into the career path again. I wouldn't mind diversifying into other engineering positions as well.
Thank you,
Jo
