Leonard Lewin was a microwave engineer working for Standard Telephones and Cables, first at their research labs in Enfield, before moving to Harlow in the late 1950's.
He was a member of the IEE and moved to America to become an academic. He was active in the IEEE in America

He did major work in rescuing the mathematical study of dilogarithms and polylogarithms from relative obscurity starting this process as a mathematical amateur/hobbyist.
Now the study of these functions is important to finding numerical solutions to various integrals found in physics and engineering - the most high profile now being quantum field theory integrals linked to certain types of Feynman diagram in particle physics.
Does anyone know more of his work during the war and at STC in Enfield and Harlow?
