The IET attended a wonderful evening at the Museum of Science and Technology, a venue which we frequently haunt to support activities during the National engineering Month and National Science Technology Weeks in Canada.
The purpose of the event is to bring together the engineering and science community in Ottawa, raise awareness of Science and Technology and to support the Museum to inspire the next generation of Engineers and Scientists.
An opening speech was provided by Greg Mumford Chair of Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation Foundation ably flanked by two of RCMP’s finest.

The Queen (was that ‘drag’) made a flying visit and greeted many guests as they toured the museum’s vast interior! Without doubt the highlight of the evening was the museum's speciality ‘Liquid Nitrogen’ Ice cream, made locally in the museum that night before our disbelieving eyes.

The evening provides the ability to network between individuals and organizations in a fun and relaxed fundraising gala to support the cause of preparing the next generation of scientists, advancing science literacy, and extending the museum's fascinating science programs to underprivileged kids from our community.

"In a new world economy, our children must learn to think critically and test the claims of others. We need your help in instilling scientific curiosity, unbound creativity and market audacity with young Canadians to become the life-long innovators and entrepreneurs our country will count on tomorrow". Greg Mumford.
For those who haven't visited, the museum exhibits are a highly interactive environment and is a throroughly enjoyable day out for the family. The picture below reminds us of why we are here. An Edison generator closely flanked by a Westinghouse generator, subtly demonstating the clash of titans over the future source of electrical energy for the world. Westinghouse machine is at the rear.
