The IET Women's Network has been approached by a Senior Lecturer at the Open University, Milton Keynes. He is looking for volunteer speaker to talk about their work and how being connected to a professional body has helped their career development. Potential volunteers would therefore need to be IET members who have been through the student journey and who have been supported by the IET.
Topics to cover in the talk would be include, but not be limited to:
- Benefits of being an IET member, drawing from your own experience;
- Details of any networking / general opportunities that you may have been involved with;
- Information on how being part of a professional body has helped your career development and can help theirs.
The event will also provide some great networking opportunities, celebrate women in engineering and highlight different perspectives.
Timings:
You will be given a 20 minute slot plus some discussion time / Q&A afterwards.
In addition to your presentation; the OU will also have a panel of speakers, which you may be asked to join.
