Faraday Challenge

Spent today supporting the IET presenter deliver this year's challenge at Wallace Hall Academy.  Fantastic day full or surprise and reward for all who participated.  The pupils enjoyed discovering the BBC Micro:bit and quickly put it to novel and interesting use in their bespoke inventions - all with a strong social benefit.  No shortage of innovation and application among the competitors.  Recommend this refreshing experience to all - watch out for it coming round next year.  Will support the event again tomorrow at Grange Academy, Kilmarnock.  Surprised there were no other IET members present.

  • Grange Academy were equally strong competitors, developing a number of novel micro:bit based devices.  All had applicable social uses.  Fantastic to see how quickly young minds can assimilate coding skills and develop an understanding of I/O interfacing in only a few hours. Worth every second of my volunteered time.  Hoping that this will enable our future technologists.
