A slightly unusual request but Hitchin Boys School is running a Microbit launch day for their year 7 students on 7th July.  They would like to run a day of activities where the students have a proper introduction of the Microbit and also get hands on experience of using it.

The plan of the day is as follows:-

9:15 to 9:45 Presentation to whole year group introducing the microbit and setting the scene for the importance of programming.

9:45 to 10:35 Session 1

10:35 to 10:55 Break

10:55 to 11:45 Session 2
11:45 to 12:30 Workshop 1

12:30 to 13:30 Lunch

13:30 to 14:15 Workshop 2
14:15 to 15:00 Workshop 3
15:00 to 15:30 Project development

During Sessions 1 and 2 students will rotate to cover, How to develop a project,  and The hardware and software of the Microbit. Workshops 1, 2 and 3 will involve downloading application code to the Microbit and building the different applications.

The school would really like an inspirational speaker for the 9:15 to 9:45 slot, and help in presenting the hardware and software environment, and also some help in the workshop sessions.

Please e-mail me at womensnetwork@theiet.org if you are familiar with the Micro:bit and are able to help.

I appreciate that this is fairly short notice but if you can help, the school would be most grateful.

Thank you,

Jo
