The IET is supporting the BBC and other broadcasters’ Expert Women campaign, which aims to get more female experts interviewed on television – particularly on subjects traditionally dominated by men such as engineering and technology.

But we need the help of our female IET members.

Naomi Climer, President, Media Cloud Services, Sony and Deputy President of the ...IET is an experience media commentator. She says:

“I was initially uncomfortable putting myself up as an expert on anything. There will always be someone that you think knows more than you on your topic, but if you prepare well and consider where you may have some insight, you may be surprised by how interested people are in your view.

“It's challenging and stretching but being in the media will almost certainly improve your visibility inside and outside your company – which leads to new opportunities...”

We look forward to hearing from you. Please indicate any specific areas of engineering expertise on which you would be happy to be interviewed on television or radio. Areas we are particularly interested in finding expertise include civil engineering, fracking, tunnels, infrastructure, space engineering, built environment and satellite communications.

But if your expertise lies in other engineering and technology area, we would still be interested to hear from you.

NB. We can also arrange for media training if needed.

Please e-mail womensnetwork@theiet.org to register your interest.
