Professional Development for British Sign Language

Hello,

I have received the following request in the hope that somebody may have some information that they could share.

''I realise this is a slightly unusual request and would be happy to be directed elsewhere. However, we have a profoundly deaf student who has just registered on our Electrical and Electronics engineering degree, and who requires British Sign Language interpreters to communicate with staff and fellow students. However we are struggling to support him, and would like to know if there is any official development or training available, please? Most of the teaching staff are IET members (myself included), but we would also be interested in any training available for our interpreters who are not members.''

If you are able to share some information, please e-mail me at womensnetwork@theiet.org

Thank you,

Jo
