Project Management Certification v Professional Registration

Hello Community,

I'm after some opinion regarding Project Management Certifications (Prince2, PMP, etc) please

I understand how their value has risen in the employment and skills markets over recent years but it is also my belief that SPEC Competence C (Technical/Commercial Leadership) can demonstrate the same capability, especially at CEng/IEng level in a project environment.

Has anyone any experience and especially opinion about the value of an IEng or CEng undertaking such certification after registration. I'm particulary keen to understand from certification holders if they felt this helped them in the search for employment. Did it add real value or did it simply tick another box?

Thanks

Ken
