Can you help introduce young people to the exciting world of STEM?

Research from the IET highlighted that 54% of children don’t know anything about careers in engineering. Can you help us change this?


The IET is looking for members to volunteer as STEM Ambassadors with STEM Learning to help introduce young people to the exciting world of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and raise awareness of the career opportunities available in engineering.


Working with schools and introducing the world of engineering to the next generation is a rewarding experience, and also contributes valuable continuing professional development (CPD).  Interested? Please join us in London for a STEM Ambassador training session.

Registration is essential.

What does a STEM Ambassador do?


The IET works closely with the STEM Ambassador programme, which is run by STEM Learning. STEM Ambassadors support opportunities for young people to learn more about engineering. As a STEM Ambassador you could: 

  • Have a table at careers fairs

  • Provide career presentations

  • Support competitions, after-school clubs and other schools events

  • Exhibit at a science fair with a team of IET members


Time required?

The amount of time volunteered is completely up to you – all we ask is for a minimum of one activity per year.

No experience or special qualifications are required. Interested members should have good communication skills and an active interest in the development of young people of all ages and abilities.

    Andrew - if you can't come along on Friday but still want to get involved you are welcome to sign up as a STEM Ambassador and have the induction another day. STEM Learning is putting together an IET group for us and will be able to add you later if you let them know you'd like to be added.
