The IoT has massive scope, however I am really interested in the IIoT - Industrial Internet of Things, with a view to obtaining machine data for diagnostics / preventative maintenance in order to increase the machine's OEE.
I have just taken delivery of a lot of IO Link devices which I will be evaluating over the coming month or so. Will then be sending the intelligent device data, together with data from VFD's, product data, etc to the Cloud where we will create algorithms to pick out meaningful data to help predict issues, identify patterns that are repeated when issues do occur, etc.
Anyone else working on similar projects?
