  • Hello everyone,

My name is Omar Al-Maary and I have been mainly working as a control systems engineer (OT) for close to 9 years. Over the past 3-4 years, I have also been looking at improving cyber security practices within my business unit/product line (in addition to existing role).

I have worked with Det-Tronics, Siemens S7, WinCC, Allen Bradley RSlogix5000, Wonderware InTouch & Bently Nevada systems.

I have the GICSP certification and regularly join IET webinars on cyber security and SANS webinars.  I attended the 2019 and 2021 IET Cyber & Safety Conferences.

I am also studying for an MSc in Cyber Security (part-time). Hoping to apply for CEng the day after my MSc is done ?

The cyber security of OT in critical infrastructure is what I am mainly interested in. Those who work in OT will know  that always involves understanding IT security too or at least OS security.

In a non-professional capacity, I spend my time reading technology , world politics, business and football news/analysis .

    Omar
