Balfour Beatty Returners Programme

Balfour Beatty is partnering with Women Returners to launch the Balfour Beatty Returners programme, a UK wide paid returnship that will run for 21 weeks, starting on 24 April 2017.

 
The programme has opportunities across Engineering, Operations, Commercial and Enabling Functions (IT, HR, Finance, Legal, Health & Safety) in locations including London, Cumbria, Kent, Midlands, Manchester, Gloucester, Edinburgh and Glasgow They are looking for experienced professionals who have taken a voluntary career break of two years or more and who can work a minimum of 30 hours a week.

  • This looks like a great initiative and I hope that more companies sign up. 


    It is interesting to see the retraining courses available through the Women Returners programme, and how successful these have been. Although a lot of progress has been made in trying to encourage school age girls into STEM careers, (and quite rightly so), it will take time for these girls to become women old enough to join the work force. Perhaps a part-time retraining course for engineering might encourage more working-age women to enter the profession and help to narrow the current gender gap?
