Introduction to the community

Hi

I have been a member of the IET for a year or so and only just stumbled on the Kent Community. How progressed is the community and what are its objectives please? I am a practicing engineer, Mechanically biased but interested in most areas of engineering and technology. I recognise the requirement to get the younger generation interested in the STEM industries at all levels to improve the growing skills shortages.

I'd be interested in understanding more about the community please and welcome new contacts

Thanks, Tim

    Hello Tim,

I'm Phil, nice to meet you! I'm a mechanical engineer (mainly fluids and thermofluids) based in Chatham. I volunteer as a School Liaison Officer in Kent, so I'm only really on the periphery of the Local Network committee.

Hopefully one of the core committee members will reply to your post and explain how to get involved. The educational engagements are very active in Kent, and I'd be happy to come along and update you face to face on recent and current projects.

If that suits, drop me a line and we'll compare diaries. Meanwhile, I'll separately forward the CPD events schedule to you.

    Regards,

    Phil
