Would you care to join a team of six volunteers to refurbish talking book players for visually impaired people? The present team (including two retired IET members) is under-strength. The Walkman-like players accept CD-ROM discs in a variety of formats, and need to be checked, cleaned and (often) repaired. After a final test the players are despatched.
Members of the team currently work one day a week (on Tuesdays or Thursdays), but we would like to return to 3-day working. If you think that you might like to join us, please have a look at the job description provided by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (a registered charity) at https://www.rnib.org.uk/volunteering/find-volunteering-opportunities-near-you/technical-engineering-support-volunteer or contact me. The location for the work is Bakewell Road in Orton Southgate (close to Junction 17 of the A1(M), with easy parking).
