Audio Wiring. Bass Lacking on one deck of twin deck record player.

The left turntable plays o.k. with full bass. The right hand turntable lacks bass. Why? I know the answer, but do you? The 5 band graphic equaliser is set the same for both sides.

  • I'd look for a failing capacitor in the signal path, or possibly a high impedance ground.  It is unlikley to be some sort of exotic damage to the pick-up.

  • Merry Christmas Mike. After a thorough investigation I discovered that somebody had  reversed two of the four wires to the pickup. There is no excuse for this as the cartridge is colour coded at the terminal pins.  After reversing just two of the wires the full bass recovered. I suppose that the signals were in anti-phase mode.
