  • Yes, I've followed the development of that one over the years, it seems a few companies have tried to

    make it profitable.

    GE did a datasheet for one, but as far as I know none were sold.

    There may well be others who have tried and failed.

    However nothing beyond lab lash-up hardware has ever been seen in the wild, so regrettably, like viable nuclear fusion, or a consistent government energy policy, it may be that the technical constratints are too severe to permit reliable mass production.

    That and the fact that all datasheets and press releases always seem to be on or around April the first...

    PS trunnions are however a real thing   (the bearings like you have on the sides of a traditional cannon to alter the angle of elevation), and amusingly when I designed something with such a feature I had a devil of a job convincing my colleagues it was a real thing and to use it in the part description.
