Odd Residues...

Morning All,

Does anyone have an opinion on what the red residue may be and what effect if any it would have on the board?

    Ha! those potted transformers/ chokes have been running hot or the potting compound did not have enough hardener. It is non toxic and can be scraped off and put in the bin with other plastics, but probably safer to leave it unless it is getting into connectors or switches, but it is not an encouraging sign - it should be inside  the grey boxes with the inductors it is supposed to protect..

    Thanks for that. One of our engineers noted it a while back and said it was nothing to worry about and we were a bit dubious......
