Active Loudspeakers.

Dad, these active loudspeakers seem to have loads of stuff inside them, and I reckon that they will overheat with long use and perhaps break down, because of inadequate ventilation. What do you think?

  • Nah,

These have been quite common in the Rock'n'Roll touring world for a while.

They often have largish heatsinks on the rear to dissipate the heat from the active components.

  • There are many repair videos on Youtube son where the internals have failed. If the active speaker is installed in a difficult place it may be awkward and expensive to remove it for replacement of repair.

  • No problems, as yet - after 6 years, with my very compact Sonos play 1 active speaker setup. It booms out all around the house. when given some input.
