  • So what has that to do with CO2 ? From the article

    Red is oxygen of course  (2 bonds, di-valent  ) small white is hydrogen (one bond monvalent),  Grey is not defined but as drawn both tri-valent & quadri-valent could be N or C. both are in the air.

    Interesting but only confirming experimentally what the theory has predicted for years.

  • That article is crackers, the paper mentioned is a publish porn paper, and bears no relation to proper science. I notice that they have the foundation molecule as a hydrocarbon, and claim there are 10 million of these per cc! A new fossil fuel then, because gentle cooling would render them available to us! I suppose there might be 10 million per cubic kilometre, so useless.

  • 10 million molecules of something  per cc is incredibly dilute, even for the upper atmosphere where pressures are very low.

    At sea level there are 6E23 molecules  (The Avagadro constant) per 24 litres of any gas,  so any one cc is 1/24000 or approx 2.5 E19 molecules.

    Now the pressure reduces by a factor of 20 by an altitude of 20km, so  1.2 E 18. At that altitude 10 million of something (1E7)  per cc is  a concentration of 1 part in 100 thousand million

    Even if this is at an altitude where things are a further factor  of ten thinner, about 100km up, there are still 1.2E 17 molecules per cc.

    10 million of something (1E7)  per cc is  a concentration of 1 part in 10 thousand million.

    It is all chicken feed.
